Salary: £14.56 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week | Shifts: 5 days over 7

Contract: Permanent, 52 weeks

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Chef to support the Executive Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals within a school environment. You will help maintain excellent food standards, ensure full compliance with food safety and allergen legislation, and support the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You will take responsibility for the kitchen and team when the Executive Chef is absent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support menu preparation, food production, and presentation
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen management
  • Supervise kitchen staff and assist with training and development
  • Monitor stock, food production, and wastage
  • Assist with school events and functions (rota-based, occasional out-of-hours)

  • Experience in a similar Sous Chef or senior kitchen role
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and catering standards
