37.5 hours per week ( Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00, Friday 08:00-12:30)

We are looking for a General Administrator to join our Allocations team at HMP Peterborough, supporting the safe, efficient and effective allocation of prisoners into suitable education and employment opportunities.
About HMP Peterborough
HMP Peterborough is the UK’s first purpose-built prison to house both men and women on the same site. With high levels of physical security, it provides needs-led personal development services tailored to both populations.

About the Role
As a General Administrator within the Allocations team, you will provide a range of administrative support to help ensure the smooth running of the department and the wider prison.
The Allocations team is responsible for using multiple sources of information to place prisoners into suitable education and employment opportunities. Working in a busy environment, you will help ensure these opportunities are fulfilled efficiently and safely.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate digital records and documentation.
- Use IT systems to safely and efficiently allocate prisoners into education and employment.
- Update record systems accurately and securely.
- Support the production of management information and regular reports.
- Use spreadsheets and data to identify trends and patterns.
- Use prisoner risk assessments and other relevant information to support appropriate allocations.
- Proactively use available information to ensure education and employment opportunities are fulfilled across the prison.
- Take and produce minutes of meetings when required.
- Work closely and co-operate with colleagues across the prison to support its safe and smooth running.
- Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide administrative cover for other areas when required.
- Complete general administrative duties as required by the Allocations Manager.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities in a busy working environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working under pressure and to deadlines.
- The ability to manage competing work priorities.
- Confidence using relevant IT applications, including Microsoft Teams and Excel.
- The ability to use multiple sources of information proactively.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- The ability to work effectively with others.
- Resilience and a results-oriented approach.
- A commitment to continuous improvement.
It would be advantageous if you have:
- A background in education administration or a custodial environment.
- Knowledge of the English legal system.
- Knowledge of prison regimes.
- Knowledge of educational or custodial administration processes.
- A background in careers, education or a custodial environment.
