We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Gas / Heating Engineer to join our on‑site engineering team at HMP Northumberland, working on a large, critical estate with substantial commercial plant and infrastructure. This is a true commercial environment — not domestic, not customer‑facing — offering stable long‑term employment, consistent workload, and exposure to sizeable gas and heating systems.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the maintenance and safety of commercial gas and heating plant across a large, well‑established site, including plant rooms and critical systems. Typical duties include:
- Servicing, maintenance and fault‑finding on commercial gas/heating systems
- Gas safety inspections and certification (CP15 / CP17)
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing faults on larger systems
- Compliance with Gas Safe and site H&S requirements
- Participation in an on‑call rota (additional allowance paid)
This is a static, well‑organised site, with good access to equipment and minimal interruptions.

- Commercial ACS: COCN1, CDGA1, ICPN1 (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working on commercial gas systems
