What you’ll do:

  • Ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly and meets hygiene standards.
  • Support the kitchen staff by handling various cleaning and basic food preparation tasks.
  • Undertake cleaning duties as specified on work schedules in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to manufacturers' instructions regarding the use of chemical agents.
  • Monitor chemical use and other supplies if necessary.
  • Operate dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  • Clean work surfaces, shelving, floors, walls, cupboards, grease filters, and grease traps.
  • Empty and clean rubbish bins and maintain the room area to a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Assist with stocktaking of crockery, glass, cutlery, and other utensils when directed.
  • Report malfunction of services, equipment, and any repair requirements to Head of Department.
  • Comply fully with all regulations relating to Health and Safety at work Act 1974, hygiene and food handling, fire precautions, emergency procedures, and COSHH Regulations.
  • Wear protective clothing and footwear in accordance with Company’s directive and ensure a very high standard of personal hygiene and appearance at all times.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation when unloading stock into storage.
  • Maintain correct and hygienic handling and processing of food items.
  • Exercise proper control of company stock and property.

What you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry.
  • Good numerical and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety.
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Ability to analyse problems analytically and implement innovative solutions.

Desirable:

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of client relationships.
  • Experience of working in a similar environment.

Contextual or other information:

  • May be required to work unsociable hours in line with business requirements.
  • Flexibility on work schedule will be required at times.
