What You’ll Do

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of electrical building services systems.
  • Diagnose faults, undertake repairs and restore services safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain and support electrical infrastructure including LV distribution systems, switchgear, emergency lighting, generators, UPS systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with statutory regulations, healthcare technical standards (HTMs), site procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Support compliance activities by maintaining accurate maintenance records, service reports and documentation.
  • Participate in permit‑to‑work, isolation and safety management processes.
  • Work closely with Estates colleagues, clinical teams and specialist contractors to minimise disruption and maintain service continuity.
  • Assist with minor projects, lifecycle replacement works, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Identify risks, plant condition issues and opportunities for improvement, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement across the hospital estate.

What You Bring

  • Relevant HTM & Electrical Qualifications level 3
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing electrical building services systems in a healthcare, critical environment or similarly regulated setting.
  • Strong fault‑finding, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of electrical safety standards, statutory compliance requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Experience working with planned and reactive maintenance programmes within a live operational environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • A proactive, safety‑focused approach with strong organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
  • Desirable: HTM Level 3 training, inspection and testing qualifications, healthcare estates experience, CAFM system experience and exposure to critical infrastructure such as generators, IPS and UPS systems.
