We are currently recruiting a reliable and proactive Evening Caretaker to support school sites across West Cork, primarily based in Bantry. This is a key onsite role during evening hours, ensuring the safety, security and smooth running of school facilities, particularly during sports events and activities. This role is ideal for a responsible, flexible individual with good practical/DIY skills who enjoys working independently and being a trusted presence onsite.
What you’ll do:
- Be the onsite point of contact during evening hours (typically 6:30pm–8:30pm on weekdays)
- Provide site supervision during sports events and occasional weekend tournaments (including potential 12-hour shifts on Saturdays or Sundays)
- Act as a Fire Warden (training/certification required)
- Provide basic First Aid assistance in the event of an emergency
- Support the safe operation of the building, including training in HVAC systems
- Carry out light maintenance and DIY tasks as required
- Ensure the premises remain secure, safe and well maintained
- Report any incidents, hazards or maintenance issues promptly
There may also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts across other West Cork schools (particularly if you have access to a car) and potentially in university settings in Cork City.
What you’ll bring:
- A strong sense of responsibility and reliability

- Good communication skills
- Previous experience as a caretaker, handy person, facilities assistant or fire warden (desirable but not essential)
