Job Introduction:
As a Joiner at Sodexo, you will be the go-to person, providing technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Wythenshawe Hospital estate. Join Sodexo and be part of something greater.
What you’ll do:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on structural and fabric components, including walls, floors, windows, doors, and roofs with minimal supervision.
- Fault-find and repair various structural elements, including roads, footpaths, and fire compartmentalization.
- Carry out first fix tasks for other trades with provided training.
- Manufacture, assemble, and install carpentry and joinery, including complex locking systems and high-security locks for controlled drug cabinets.
- Work on glazing, plastering, plastic wall cladding, and refitting ceiling grills.
- Design, quantify, and install complex carpentry work in compliance with safety standards and legislation.
- Adhere to national statutory standards and Sodexo/Trust safety procedures.
- Check and maintain fire doors and other safety-related installations.
- Ensure compliance with current guidance and legislation in all tasks.
- Participate in out-of-hours on-call duties to attend emergency repairs.
- Be available for emergency recall and overtime to complete urgent repairs or maintenance.
- Complete follow-on tasks using an iPad.
- Drive Sodexo vehicles when required.
What you bring:
- NVQ Level 3 - Carpentry & Joinery or City and Guilds advanced craft certificate in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent experience.
- Full UK Driving License and ability to drive Sodexo vehicles.
- Satisfactory standard DBS.
- Availability for on-call duties.
- Experience repairing plant and equipment, as well as the ability to fault find, read drawings, diagnose, and repair equipment using your technical knowledge.
- Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines, along with good organisation skills.
- Great communication skills, strong teamwork, and a positive attitude.
- Capable of working as part of a team or unsupervised, and of remaining calm under pressure.
