Job Introduction
We're looking for a Reactive Domestic Assistant to join our Sodexo team at Ipswich Hospital. In this vital role, you'll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital. What you'll do:
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests across theatres, wards and other hospital areas.
- Complete thorough terminal and decontamination cleans following patient discharge or infectious episodes.
- Clean and disinfect rooms to the required FR1 clinical cleaning standards.
- Safely operate specialist Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour and UV-C decontamination equipment.
- Follow infection prevention procedures, safe working practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Use EPIC devices to receive, manage and update cleaning tasks in real time.
- Complete cleaning records, checklists and electronic logs accurately.
- Liaise professionally with clinical teams, supervisors and bed management.
- Report equipment faults, hazards, spillages or safety concerns promptly.
What you bring:
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to complete records accurately.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A caring and respectful approach when working around patients and visitors.
- The ability to follow instructions and safety procedures consistently.
- High standards of personal hygiene and professionalism.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A calm and dependable approach in busy or stressful situations.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude towards training and learning.
- Manual handling training or a willingness to complete the required training.
