About the Role
At Sodexo, we’re looking for a Hospitality Lodge Assistant to join our team at the prestigious Wellington College.
Working within the College’s Lodge, you’ll help deliver a high-quality, professional hospitality service for a range of special events, including Headmaster’s lunches and dinners, student dining occasions and other VIP and fine-dining events throughout the academic year.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional service and enjoys working in a professional, high-end hospitality environment.
No two days will necessarily be the same, and you’ll play an important role in ensuring every event runs smoothly and our guests receive a warm, professional and memorable experience.
What You’ll Do
- Provide professional and welcoming hospitality service during Lodge events.
- Support the setup and preparation of the Lodge for lunches, dinners and special events.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of food to Sodexo standards.
- Serve students, staff and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Support formal and fine-dining events, ensuring excellent standards of presentation and service.
- Maintain awareness of food allergens and follow all food safety procedures.
- Ensure correct portion control and presentation standards are maintained.
- Keep the Lodge, service areas and equipment clean, organised and ready for use.
- Complete cleaning duties in line with the Lodge cleaning schedule.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional presentation.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, guests and College stakeholders.
- Report any maintenance issues, incidents or concerns promptly.
- Support special events and occasional functions outside standard working hours.
- Carry out any reasonable duties requested by the Hospitality Manager to support the smooth running of the Lodge.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience within hospitality, catering, restaurants or customer service.
- A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.
- A professional, friendly and confident approach.
- High standards of personal presentation and hygiene.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and professional during busy events.
- A flexible approach to working hours, as shifts will be dependent on Lodge events.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
Working Hours
The working pattern for this role will be dependent on Lodge events, including lunches, dinners and special functions.
Because of the nature of the role, flexibility is essential, and you may occasionally be required to work outside standard daytime hours to support evening events.
Your shift pattern will be discussed with you as part of the recruitment process.
