We’re now looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Hamilton Park Racecourse. Supporting the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of all kitchen operations across:
- Raceday hospitality
- Conferences & events
- Banqueting & private functions
- Non‑raceday catering activity
You’ll help lead and inspire the kitchen team to consistently deliver outstanding food quality, exceptional presentation and memorable guest experiences across every service. No two days are the same at Hamilton Park Racecourse, and that’s exactly what makes this role so exciting.
What You'll Do:
- Support the delivery of exceptional food across racedays, hospitality suites, conferences, banquets and private events
- Assist the Head Chef in leading day‑to‑day kitchen operations within a busy, fast‑paced environment
- Prepare and present high‑quality dishes to consistently high standards of taste and presentation
- Lead, motivate and support casual and permanent kitchen team members during service
- Ensure full compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety and company standards at all times
- Help create innovative seasonal menus and fresh event catering concepts
- Maintain strong organisation and efficiency during high‑volume service periods
- Build positive relationships with colleagues across culinary, front‑of‑house and venue teams
- Support stock control, food ordering and minimising waste to achieve cost targets
- Contribute to a positive kitchen culture focused on teamwork, creativity and guest satisfaction
What You Bring:
- Previous experience in a high‑volume hospitality, events or banqueting kitchen
- Experience within stadia, racecourse, hotel or event catering operations (preferred)
- A passion for fresh food, creativity and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- The ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment
- Excellent communication and team‑working abilities
- Good knowledge of food safety and compliance standards
- Relevant culinary and food safety qualifications
