Are you passionate about delivering excellent customer service and take pride in maintaining high standards? We are looking for a motivated and reliable Catering Assistant to join our team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, playing a vital role in supporting the delivery of high quality food services to patients, visitors, and staff. Working within a busy healthcare environment, you will be responsible for food service, kitchen hygiene, cleaning, and ward based catering activities, ensuring an efficient and professional service at all times. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in catering, hospitality, food service, or customer facing environments who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to providing an outstanding service that positively impacts the patient experience.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver a high quality ward food service, ensuring meals are distributed accurately and efficiently to patients across the hospital.
- Set up and prepare catering trolleys and equipment to support daily meal service operations.
- Collect and return meal trolleys and associated catering equipment from ward areas in line with service schedules.
- Carry out cleaning and sanitation of kitchen areas, catering equipment, and regeneration trolleys, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Complete all service documentation accurately, including temperature checks, cleaning records, and delivery logs.
- Operate mechanical dishwashing equipment and undertake manual cleaning duties to support the smooth running of the catering service.
- Comply with food safety, health and safety, and infection prevention procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with legislative and hospital requirements.
- Report equipment faults, participate in required training programmes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of catering services and patient experience.
