Casual Cleaning Operative

What you'll do:

  • Carry out a range of cleaning duties across designated areas, ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning tasks efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  • Clean and maintain communal areas, facilities and other allocated spaces to the required standard.
  • Use the correct cleaning methods, colour-coded equipment and materials for each task.
  • Safely use cleaning equipment, machinery and chemicals in accordance with your training.
  • Follow COSHH, Health & Safety and safe working procedures at all times.
  • Wear the correct PPE and take appropriate precautions to help prevent cross-contamination.
  • Use appropriate safety signage while cleaning, ensuring it is removed and stored safely when no longer required.
  • Keep cleaning equipment and tools clean, safe and well maintained.
  • Ensure cleaning cupboards and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and organised.
  • Identify and report building defects, damaged equipment or other issues that could affect safety or service delivery.
  • Complete any required cleaning records and documentation accurately.
  • Work flexibly to respond to changing priorities and additional cleaning requirements.
  • Work closely with colleagues to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for everyone on site.

What you'll bring:

  • Previous cleaning experience would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
  • Experience using commercial cleaning equipment would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety would be beneficial.
  • An NVQ/BICSc cleaning qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
  • A reliable and proactive approach to work.
  • The ability to manage your time effectively and complete tasks to schedule.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support different cleaning tasks when required.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach.
  • The ability to undertake a physically active role, including periods of standing and walking, bending, reaching and using cleaning equipment.
