We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Project Coordination Engineer to join our Building & Real Estate Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride. We are looking for a proactive, flexible and reliable Project Coordination Engineer to join our team. Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role, and will possess a recognised engineering or architectural qualification.

Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in delivering high-quality façade engineering services to our clients, including but not limited to:
  • Aiding in the creation of project (technical and non-technical) documentation
  • Supporting project coordination and problem-solving
  • Developing and maintaining industry knowledge
  • Developing façade designs and associated mark-ups for various projects
  • Providing advisory support and conducting site visits during the construction stage
  • Performing non-intrusive and intrusive investigations as required and preparing assessment reports of the façade and external wall systems
  • Helping to track project progress and provide updates to senior engineers
  • Learning how to coordinate with engineering teams and clients
  • Provide support in technical sales and client relationship:
    • Assisting senior engineers in understanding and explaining technical products or services to clients
    • Helping to prepare technical presentations and demonstrations
    • Participating in client meetings and learning how to build relationships
    • Assisting in responding to client inquiries and providing basic technical support
    • Assisting in the preparation of proposals and quotations
    • Supporting the maintenance of client databases
  • Developing technical expertise:
    • Learning about relevant engineering principles and technologies
    • Attending training sessions and workshops
    • Staying up to date on industry trends and advancements through reading and research
    • Learning about relevant regulations and compliance requirements
  • Continually working to improve skills and knowledge
  • Work reliably, professionally, and effectively with others (internally and externally), manage time effectively (including regularly filling in timesheets), and operate within the limits of competency
  • Collaborate within a team environment and provide support to other team members when required
  • Assist driving the technical development of the façade engineering team, working in cooperation with other senior team members
  • Ensure SOCOTEC systems and policies are followed and assist with their development and continuous improvement (e.g., internal procedures, templates, or similar)
  • Maintain records to ensure the company’s quality procedures, service levels, and contractual requirements are met
  • Undertake other duties within the competence of the post holder, as may be reasonably required from time to time
  • Discharge professional duties with honesty, integrity, impartiality, and objectivity
  • To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

    • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or project management
    • Possess or working towards a master’s degree in engineering / project management or an equivalent qualification
    • Familiar with British, European, and other international standards
    • Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills
    • Self-motivated, capable of prioritising and working independently, as well as following instructions and collaborating within a team
    • Numerate, organised, and detail-oriented
    • Exhibits professional appearance and behaviour
    • Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
    • Reliable, punctual, honest, and trustworthy
    • Knowledge / experience in building construction, particularly façade engineering is an advantage

    Desirable:

    • Excellent computer skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft Word / Outlook and Bluebeam
