Workshop Technician
We’re looking for a dedicated Workshop Technician to join our Water Quality team in Leeds. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the service, repair, and maintenance of water quality monitoring equipment, ensuring all instrumentation is calibrated, tested, and available to support our field operations across the UK.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
- Strip sensors from water quality loggers (EXO), test, and refit or replace them
- Immerse sensors in test solutions to ensure they operate within agreed parameters
- Test and calibrate all S82 EXO sensors to manufacturer specifications
- Prepare and deploy EXO water quality monitoring equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of water quality sensors and instrumentation
- Ensure batteries are charged and ready for deployment
- Help control stock levels of water quality equipment alongside the Stores Team
- Utilise internal IT systems to track assets and monitor equipment locations
- Work safely in line with health and safety guidelines and internal management system procedures
- Maintain adaptability to shifting workloads based on Field Crew Operative demands
- Follow instructions and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment
- Collaborate as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Approach work proactively, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong practical skills with good hand-eye coordination
- Interest in water quality instrumentation and sensor technology
- Ability to follow calibration procedures and maintain accuracy
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to work to deadlines
- Comfortable using IT systems for asset tracking
- Commitment to working safely and efficiently
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work away from base location occasionally
- Positive, can-do attitude with strong work ethic
- Ability to stay away from home when project requirements necessitate
It is desirable, that you also have some or all the following:
- C&G 224 qualification
- HND or equivalent in electronics (or working towards one)
- C&G Electronics or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of water quality parameters and instrumentation
