SOCOTEC provides a comprehensive range of environmental monitoring and consultancy services to help companies fulfil their legal obligations and to comply with environmental regulations. Our expert field teams provide national coverage and tailored services including site investigation, sampling and analysis, monitoring, interpretation and consultancy. Our qualified and highly talented field consultants provide environmental analysis, environmental monitoring and consultancy services to assist clients in complying with legislation.
About the role
As a Senior Environmental Consultant you will take responsibility for the project management and technical leadership of contaminated land projects and environmental assessments. As part of your role, you will work within the wider environmental team assisting in delivery of technical and operational work.
The base office will be in Coventry. SOCOTEC has offices across England, Scotland and Wales and, as well as work in the local area. The role will entail providing support to other SOCOTEC offices as required; this may entail periods of time away from home and a full driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will be wide ranging and encompass technical and commercial requirements, including those listed below:
- Take a technical and commercial responsibility for the on time and on budget delivery of contaminated land and environmental assessment projects within the context of a wider environmental team.
- Proposal writing.
- Factual and Interpretative reporting.
- Day to day training and mentoring of current and new junior team members.
- Delivery of all work safely and in line with SOCOTEC’s safety policies and procedures.
- Providing excellent customer service to existing and new clients.
About you
We’re looking for a professional, dynamic and motivated individual with ability to work alone and as part of a team. Communicative, organised, flexible and committed, you must also have:
- A relevant scientific or environmental degree and at least 5 years’ experience in geo-environmental/contaminated land consultancy.
- Have practical work experience in the geo-environmental/contaminated land field and the waste industry, including supervision of sub-contractors, soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring.
- Have previous experience in writing both contaminated land and waste reports, to include human health and controlled waters risk assessments.
- Good IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of technical and non-technical audiences, both via concise, complete and accurate written communications and verbally.
