SOCOTEC UK & Ireland is looking for a Junior Geophysicist to join our Environment & Safety Division across the UK. The role involves extensive geophysical survey work and includes training and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking geophysical surveys using methodologies such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), seismic, resistivity, electrical conductivity, and gravity methods;
  • Downloading, quality‑checking, and post‑processing survey data in accordance with project specifications and timelines;
  • Operating and maintaining geophysical survey equipment to industry standards;
  • Supporting site investigations across the UK, with flexibility for overnight stays and extended travel when required;
  • Adhering to SOCOTEC Health & Safety protocols and maintaining safe working practices on all site assignments;
  • Completing mandatory training modules and developing technical competency across all survey equipment;

Qualifications

  • A degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline;
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication abilities and a professional approach to client interaction;
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK;
  • Commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards in all working environments;
