We are looking for proactive, flexible and reliable Apprentice Building Control Surveyors to join our UK offices. Working towards a Degree in Building Control Surveying with University College of Estate Management (UCEM), you will also work across a wide variety of projects within your wider team. Off-the-job training will be provided by UCEM. You will achieve an accredited BSc (Hons) Building Control Surveying Degree. Rather than attending formal lectures or classes, you’ll study for the Degree using UCEM’s fully supported online learning environment and digital library, including support from highly experienced tutors.
You will have a training supervisor who will support you throughout your studies and on-the-job training that focuses on Building Regulations, relevant legislation, guidance and codes of practice. You will assist in managing a portfolio of projects as required by team members and provide assistance and support to the Building Control Team in all aspects of the office and site environment.
We offer a bespoke training process that works towards meeting the agreed competencies within our training programme which will feed into your academic studies with UCEM. Please note that it may be necessary to climb ladders and work at height when carrying out inspections throughout your career.

You will have:
- Good IT skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and literacy knowledge.
- The ability to work using your initiative and common sense.
You will also have:
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and mathematics (Grade 4 for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and mathematics as defined by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.
- Obtained 96 UCAS tariff points or have an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS Tariff.
- Completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction Technical through which a Construction and Built Environment Diploma with a minimum DD profile was obtained or through which a Construction and Built Environment Extended Diploma with a minimum MMM profile was obtained, or an equivalent qualification.
- A current RICS Associate qualification (AssocRICS).
Recognised qualifications having an equivalent level of attainment as those recognised by UCAS include: Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), professional qualifications from recognised institutions, certain armed forces qualifications and partially completed degrees.
