UKTC is a UKAS accredited testing and certification body specialising in fire performance, security and construction product certification services for the built environment. As part of the SOCOTEC UK & Ireland group, UKTC supports manufacturers, fabricators and installers in demonstrating compliance with recognised national and international standards through independent third‑party certification and testing services. We are currently expanding our certification team to support the continued growth of our UKTC Ensure certification schemes, including fire resistant and enhanced security doorset certification. Job Description

We are looking for a technically competent and commercially professional Certification Officer to support the delivery and growth of our UKAS accredited third‑party certification activities. The role involves conducting Factory Production Control (FPC) audits, reviewing technical evidence and supporting conformity assessment activities across fire and security doorset certification schemes in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065, UKTC scheme requirements and relevant product standards. This role will involve regular UK travel, occasional international travel and customer‑facing auditing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Factory Production Control (FPC) audits at manufacturer and fabricator facilities throughout the UK and internationally as required.
  • Review technical documentation including test reports, assessments, field of application reports and quality documentation.
  • Prepare technical evaluation reports and certification files for independent certification review and decision.
  • Support surveillance, maintenance, suspension and withdrawal activities associated with third‑party certification schemes.
  • Ensure certification activities are completed in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065, UKAS requirements, internal procedures and scheme requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits associated with UKAS accreditation activities.
  • Maintain accurate certification records and audit documentation.
  • Provide technically robust and commercially professional support to clients throughout the certification process.
  • Support the continual development and improvement of UKTC certification schemes and associated technical services.
  • Represent UKTC professionally during audits, meetings, trade events and industry engagement activities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience conducting internal, supplier or third‑party audits.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, construction products, fire protection, security products or a related technical industry.
  • Good understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing controls.
  • Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical documentation and test evidence.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Desirable

  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17065 conformity assessment activities.
  • Experience with Factory Production Control (FPC) auditing.
  • Knowledge of construction product certification and AVCP systems.
  • Experience working within a UKAS accredited environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards including: EN 16034, EN 14351-1, PAS 24, EN 1627, BS 8214.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience within fire resistant or security doorset manufacturing.
