We are seeking a Trainee Asbestos Bulk Analyst to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will receive full training to achieve the BOHS P401 qualification: Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples by PLM. This certification is essential for carrying out the responsibilities of an Asbestos Bulk Analyst. As a key member of the team, you’ll play an important role in maintaining our reputation for technical excellence and supporting the continued success of our business.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
- Commitment to the training programme with a view of undertaking the P401 exam in approximately 3 months.
- Learn and expand knowledge in specific analysis of asbestos in accordance with HSG248 and work towards obtaining the BOHS Qualification P401: Identification of Asbestos in bulk samples.
- Maintain high standards of work and compliance with UKAS accreditation requirements.
- Preparation of samples using UKAS audited method for subsequent analysis with different types of equipment.
- Work as a functional team member in the Asbestos Lab environment.
- Proactively communicate within the team to ensure effective performance.
- Comply with laboratory and site safety procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including maths and science.
- An interest in construction, science, and laboratory testing.
- Strong IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Able to work on your own initiative.
- Proactive in spotting issues and resolving problems.
