To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Environment and Safety Division. SOCOTEC provides a comprehensive range of environmental monitoring and consultancy services to help companies fulfil their legal obligations and comply with environmental regulations. Our expert field teams provide national coverage and tailored services including site investigation, sampling and analysis, monitoring, interpretation and consultancy.
As a Senior Environmental Consultant you will take responsibility for the project management and technical leadership of contaminated land projects and environmental assessments. You will work within the wider environmental team assisting in the delivery of technical and operational work. The base office will be in Coventry, with occasional travel to other SOCOTEC offices across England, Scotland and Wales. A full driving licence is essential.
You Will:
- Take a technical and commercial responsibility for the on time and on budget delivery of contaminated land and environmental assessment projects within the context of a wider environmental team.
- Prepare proposals.
- Write factual and interpretative reporting.
- Provide day‑to‑day training and mentoring of current and new junior team members.
- Deliver all work safely in line with SOCOTEC’s safety policies and procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to existing and new clients.
About You:
- A relevant scientific or environmental degree and at least 5 years’ experience in geo‑environmental/contaminated land consultancy.
- Practical work experience in the geo‑environmental/contaminated land field and the waste industry, including supervision of sub‑contractors, soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring.
- Previous experience in writing contaminated land and waste reports, including human health and controlled waters risk assessments.
- Good IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a range of technical and non‑technical audiences, both verbally and written.
- Willingness to learn something new.
