As a Regional Manager you will support SOCOTEC’s Building Control teams on site. You will lead the local team, provide technical and commercial support to inspectors and assist the Regional Director to grow the team while ensuring compliance. This hybrid role requires office attendance at least three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and deliver Building Regulations compliance services – review designs, building materials and construction specifications at all stages to confirm alignment with Building Regulations, fire safety, energy efficiency, accessibility and environmental requirements, and offer consultancy where SOCOTEC is not the Registered Building Control Approver.
- Act as Registered Building Inspector and lead office operations – perform duties within your competency, supervise lower‑class RBIs and trainees, issue formal notices and reports on breaches under the Building Safety Act 2022, oversee fair work distribution, monitor compliance with SOCOTEC processes and quality assurance systems and serve as first point of escalation.
- Manage business development and office commercial performance – quote fees, handle enquiries, advise clients on legislation, manage office profit and loss, support regional budgeting and resourcing, prepare inspection reports and documentation, conduct performance reviews and regular 1:1 meetings, and act as first line on formal complaints.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification and regulatory registration with leadership capability – membership of RICS, CABE or equivalent, or suitable experience, CPD requirements met and evidence of RBI registration, along with proven ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
- Excellent communication, relationship building and client care skills – strong interpersonal abilities to build relationships with clients, promote open communication, and work effectively independently and within large project teams.
- Self‑starting problem‑solver with commercial acumen – analytical ability to examine complex issues, develop and implement solutions, identify opportunities to optimise operations and reduce inefficiencies, and maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of building codes, regulations and industry best practices.
