SOCOTEC UK has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Trainee Land Surveyor to join our growing Environment & Safety Division in Sevenoaks (or surrounding areas). We offer an extensive training program designed to transform you into a skilled surveyor within just 12 months, giving you hands-on experience, mentorship from Senior Surveyors, and the opportunity to develop a long-term career in a growing and rewarding field.

As a Trainee Land Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients by helping to deliver accurate topographical surveys, ensuring precise project measurements, and contributing to the success of our business.

  • Assisting with topographical surveys using Total Stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments
  • Supporting Senior Surveyors in producing accurate site plans and CAD drawings
  • Helping to gather and record land measurement data to industry standards
  • Working safely on-site, following health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Developing strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Learning to interpret Ordnance Survey maps and technical drawings to assist in survey delivery

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in surveying, construction, or civil engineering
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in land measurement and mapping
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • A full UK driving licence (travel across the North/Yorkshire area required)

Travel and Flexibility

Travel across the UK is common, particularly in the South. Candidates must be open to working away from home during the week and accommodate night or evening shifts as needed.

At SOCOTEC, our Land and Utility Surveying services combine traditional topographical surveying with specialised underground utility detection using advanced equipment including Total Stations, GPS technology, and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Our experienced teams deliver precise site measurements, accurate utility mapping, and detailed CAD drawings that enable safe project planning whilst minimising risks associated with underground services and site conditions.
