Job Description
Trainee Asbestos Analyst – Starting salary National Minimum Wage.
Responsibilities
- Go through an intensive 3‑month site and office‑based training program. During this time, you’ll learn everything you need to know about asbestos air monitoring—this means understanding how to test the air in buildings to check for asbestos particles and ensure it’s safe for people to be there.
- Check the level of airborne fibres before starting any work.
- Test for leaks while work is happening to make sure safety measures are working.
- Carry out air testing after the work to confirm it’s safe to remove safety controls and use the area again.
- Report any health and safety concerns to the client and stop work right away if needed.
- Put together a final report with all project details, including waste documents, for the building’s safety file.
Qualifications
- Team player with the ability to work independently as you gain confidence in asbestos air monitoring.
- Interest in working in varied site environments; regularly travel to different locations to carry out air monitoring.
- Keen eye for detail and interest in analytical work—particularly using microscopes to examine air samples for asbestos fibres.
- Strong time management and organisational skills to manage site schedules, complete reports accurately, and meet client deadlines.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting findings and working with clients and colleagues.
- A full manual UK driving licence is required, as this role involves regular travel to client sites across the region.
