Join SOCOTEC's Fire Engineering and Safety team to deliver high-quality fire engineering consultancy to major clients, focusing on Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and coordinating building safety case development, ensuring robust assessments and compliance with the Building Safety Act.
  • Preparing fire appraisal reports and Fire HAZID assessments to support safety case reports.
  • Reviewing fire safety strategies and associated mark-ups for HRB buildings.
  • Providing technical advisory input and undertaking site inspections during design, construction and remediation stages.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering with a postgraduate Fire Engineering qualification.
  • Working towards or achieved Incorporated HRB registration with the Engineering Council and full membership with the IFE.
  • At least four years' experience in fire safety engineering.
  • Strong technical competence in fire dynamics, evacuation, structural fire behaviour and passive/active systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory guidance (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, HTMs, BB100, BS 7974 series) and HRB legislation.
  • A degree and postgraduate qualification in fire engineering or a related discipline.
  • Full membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers and progress towards Chartership.
  • At least six years’ experience in fire safety engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire engineering standards and guidance.
