The ideal candidate will have experience in the South Cambridge area and will work in a hybrid model (3 days on site). I’m supporting a leading, innovation-driven engineering consultancy that develops advanced, sustainable and safety-critical technologies across commercial, industrial and defence sectors. Known for integrity and collaboration, they offer an environment where technical excellence and teamwork drive every project. They’re now looking for a Senior PCB Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in transforming design concepts into high-quality, manufacturable boards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating manufacturable PCB designs from engineering schematics
- Managing schematic and PCB footprint libraries, plus scripting BoMs and generating manufacturing data packs
- Maintaining and developing relationships with PCB CAD and manufacturing suppliers
- Auditing suppliers and keeping up to date with new PCB technologies
- Negotiating stack-ups, timescales and costs with PCB suppliers and build contractors
- Overseeing the delivery of boards to agreed quality, specifications and deadlines (ISO9001 environment)
- Presenting designs in internal and external design reviews
- Driving continuous improvements and best practice across PCB processes
What You’ll Bring:
- A strong portfolio of completed PCB designs - experience in RF, microwave or millimetre-wave is a big plus
- Expert user of Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout (essential)
- Knowledge of SMT, DFA, DFM and IPC standards for high-reliability products
- Experience supporting electronic and mechanical design teams
- Ability to solve complex design challenges and work independently under pressure
- Confident communicator able to negotiate with suppliers and collaborate internally
