I'm working with a well-established UK technology and engineering business that develops advanced solutions for defence, security and national security applications. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add an experienced Radar Signal Processing Consultant to their multidisciplinary engineering team based near Cambridge.
This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects at the forefront of radar, electronic warfare and advanced sensing technologies, contributing to the development of next-generation capabilities for defence and security customers.
The Role
The successful candidate will work on the modelling, analysis and development of complex radar and electronic warfare systems, helping to solve challenging engineering problems through simulation, algorithm development and system-level design. The role will involve developing proof-of-concept solutions, validating system performance and contributing to cutting-edge R&D programmes spanning radar, RF systems and electronic warfare technologies. You will have significant autonomy in your work while collaborating closely with specialists across software, systems, RF, electronics and mathematics disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Modelling and simulation of complex radar and electronic warfare systems
- Development of signal processing algorithms and system architectures
- Design and validation of simulation environments and test benches
- Analysis of system performance and interaction between complex subsystems
- Development of proof-of-concept solutions for advanced defence applications
- Supporting system verification through simulation, testing and real-world data
- Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across a range of technical domains
Experience Required
Candidates should have strong experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Radar systems engineering
- Electronic warfare systems
- Signal processing algorithm development
- System modelling and simulation
- System architecture and performance analysis
- Hardware-in-the-loop testing and development
- Radar signal processing and validation
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP), including FFTs, filtering, correlation and related techniques
- Validation of simulations using real-world measurements or field trial data
- RF systems and architectures
- Antennas, waveforms and receiver processing
- Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) technologies
- Directed Energy Weapons (DEW)
- RF front-end architecture development
- FPGA development and high-speed real-time signal processing
