I'm currently hiring a Senior AI Engineer for a growing, research led consultancy building AI driven products used by leading global pharmaceutical organisations. This is a genuinely impactful role. You'll be developing production grade AI systems that support medical and commercial teams and ultimately contribute to better patient outcomes. The role is remote across the UK, with in person team meetings roughly every two months.
The opportunity: You'll join a highly capable engineering team focused on building secure, scalable AI platforms using modern LLM and agent based technologies. This is not a proof of concept environment. The emphasis is on production systems, robustness, and long term value. The role suits someone who enjoys technical ownership, depth, and working closely with product, data, and commercial teams.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and building scalable Python backend services in a secure, multi tenant environment
- Developing and maintaining REST and asynchronous APIs
- Building and evolving LLM powered systems, including agentic workflows, retrieval, context management, and model integration
- Collaborating on architecture, roadmap decisions, and code quality
- Designing data pipelines to support AI workflows, including validation, transformation, and enrichment
- Building and maintaining AWS based infrastructure using infrastructure as code
- Supporting CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployment and testing
- Working to high security and compliance standards, including ISO27001
What I'm looking for:
Essential experience:
- Strong Python backend engineering experience, ideally 3+ years
- Hands on experience using LLMs or AI systems in a production environment
- Solid AWS knowledge and experience with infrastructure as code
- Experience with LLM integration frameworks
- Experience with containers, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines
- Good understanding of database scaling, caching, and performance optimisation
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean coding practices
Nice to have:
- Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React
- Background in healthcare or life sciences
- Familiarity with ISO27001 or regulated environments
- A curious, customer focused mindset and genuine interest in AI innovation
