Director of Events Cambridge, UK | Confidential Search We are working in close partnership with a pioneering global technology company headquartered in Cambridge, currently seeking a Director of Events to lead and evolve their internal events function at a strategic and global level. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced events leader to take the reins of a well-established team, shaping a programme of internal experiences that bring organisational culture to life, connect people across regions, and drive genuine engagement at every level of the business. The Opportunity Reporting to the VP of Internal Communications & Community (UK-based), the Director of Events will set the vision for a global events programme that is inclusive, memorable, and aligned with wider business goals. This role calls for a creative and commercially aware individual who combines hands-on leadership with strategic thinking. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, communications professionals, HR and operations teams to deliver a world-class events experience that is thoughtful, consistent, and scalable. Key Responsibilities Define the vision: Lead and evolve the global internal events strategy to support company culture and business priorities. Inspire the team: Lead and develop a high-performing team of events professionals, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and accountability. Own delivery: Oversee planning and execution of a diverse calendar of internal events – from major company-wide gatherings to targeted local initiatives. Collaborate across the business: Engage with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and impact. Drive innovation: Stay ahead of trends (especially in tech and AI) to ensure the events programme remains fresh, engaging, and future-facing. Manage resources: Take ownership of multi-million-pound budgets and supplier relationships, ensuring efficiency and robust governance. Prioritise experience: Ensure every touchpoint of the delegate journey – from comms and branding to feedback and evaluation – is carefully considered and well executed. Mitigate risk: Proactively identify and manage operational risks across the portfolio. Mentor and develop: Create a culture of continuous feedback and professional growth within the team.Candidate Profile We’re looking to speak with senior events professionals who bring a blend of strategic leadership and operational expertise, ideally from a global or fast-paced environment. You will bring: A proven track record in leading internal events at scale, across multiple regions. Experience managing teams and delivering high-impact events with budgets exceeding £10m. Strong commercial and supplier management skills. First-class communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging at executive level. A highly organised approach, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities calmly and effectively. A natural curiosity and confidence to challenge the status quo, experiment and innovate.
