A global engineering organisation is expanding its Cambridge-based team and is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to help develop a new generation of advanced electronic control units. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly capable engineering division at a pivotal stage of its growth.

Working closely with colleagues across the UK and Canada, you’ll be part of a collaborative, technically driven team where engineering excellence, flexibility and delivering for the customer are at the heart of everything they do.
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll develop safety-critical embedded software for prototype and production systems, working closely with software, systems and hardware engineers to deliver robust solutions that meet demanding customer and industry standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and maintain embedded software for prototype and production systems
- Work across requirements, software architecture, detailed design, implementation, unit testing, integration and validation
- Develop high-quality embedded C software for real-time applications
- Perform software validation through simulation, on-target testing, bench testing, HIL and within the final system
- Work closely with system and hardware engineering teams across the wider organisation
- Ensure software development adheres to quality, safety, security and cybersecurity processes
My client is particularly interested in engineers with experience developing embedded software within automotive, aerospace, medical or another safety‑critical environment.
You’ll Bring:
- Strong C programming skills for safety-critical embedded applications
- Experience with 32‑bit CPUs, FPUs, interrupts and peripherals
- Strong understanding of real‑time embedded programming
- Understanding of compilers, linkers, Makefiles and software build processes
- Experience with AUTOSAR would be highly advantageous
