Our client is looking for an Electronic Test Engineer to support the development and implementation of advanced semiconductor testing capabilities within a specialist electronics laboratory environment. This contract will focus on establishing robust test methodologies for complex devices and electronic components, supporting both component authentication and counterfeit detection activities.
You'll be responsible for defining test strategies, developing electrical test procedures, and helping implement automated test solutions across a range of integrated circuits, memory devices, programmable components, and mixed-signal electronics. The role involves working closely with engineering teams to configure and optimise test platforms, develop reusable test architectures, troubleshoot complex issues, and support compliance with AS6171 requirements. This is a hands-on technical position suited to someone with deep expertise in semiconductor testing, automated test equipment, and high-reliability electronics environments - with experience designing the test strategy and making key decisions on behalf of the business.
Key Technical Experience:
- Strong background in semiconductor testing and electronic circuit analysis
- Experience developing parametric and functional test methodologies for electronic components
- Interpreting datasheets, pinouts, and electrical specifications
- Hands-on experience with PXI-based test systems and Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
- Experience using BPMicro and Xeltek device programming platforms
- Development and validation of electrical test procedures and acceptance criteria
- Knowledge of digital, analogue, mixed-signal, memory, and programmable logic devices
- Hardware and software integration for automated testing environments
- Test scripting experience using LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, or similar platforms
- Debugging electrical failures, signal integrity issues, and anomalous test behaviour
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes and measurement equipment
- Familiarity with boundary scan/JTAG testing methodologies
- Exposure to aerospace, defence, or other high-reliability electronics sectors
- Knowledge of component authentication, failure analysis, and semiconductor verification techniques
- Understanding of AS6171, AS6081, and counterfeit component testing methodologies (desirable)
