The Test Engineering Technician is responsible for helping us achieve streamlined, high throughput test capability at our state-of-the-art test facility in St. Albans, VT. As a Test Engineering Technician on the Battery team at Beta Technologies, you will use your hands-on technical aptitude to set up, execute, clean up, and document a variety of aerospace environmental tests on anything from flight control computers to high-voltage battery packs. Test categories span a variety of areas, such as shock and vibration, thermal, humidity, altitude, or electromagnetic interference.

Test Engineering Technician duties include not just the setup and testing of aircraft assemblies or components, but also the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of test equipment. An ideal candidate has great attention to detail when following a defined test plan, but also a good dose of creativity when working with the team on how to execute new and interesting development tests and the drive and motivation to see things through to completion no matter the challenge.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

• Assemble test fixtures, including both mechanical assembly and wiring/electrical assembly.
• Maintain and improve test equipment for both internally developed and externally purchased tools.
• Contribute to and carefully follow test procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy every step of the way.
• Clean up all tests and test equipment after test completion and document any findings with rigor.
• Look out for your teammates and maintain a safe, positive and efficient work environment.
• Use all mandated safety equipment and comply with all safety requirements in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two-year engineering degree or certificate from an accredited two (2) year college, university, or technical school or minimum 2 years work experience in a related technical field.
• Passionate about continuous improvement and driven to continually learn, develop, and adapt.
• Ability to assist in problem analysis and independent decision-making.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of electronic components.
• Good team communication skills required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications: SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Slack, application lifecycle.

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

• Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience.
• Python or similar programming experience.
• Battery cell or high voltage DC electrical system experience.
• Knowledge of DO-160.
• Aerospace design verification experience, especially compliance test experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
• Ability to position self for inspection including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.
• Ability to position self to move and/or transfer materials, equipment and/or supplies.
• Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and may involve long portions of time on feet.

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. Compensation: $28—$34 USD
