Role Purpose
The MMA/BJJ/Striking Coach is responsible for delivering a high-quality, results-driven group exercise and personal training experience to members, while contributing directly to the commercial performance of the Fitness & Personal Training department. Reporting into the Fitness leadership team, the role combines coaching excellence, client relationship management, group class delivery, and commercial accountability, aligned to the agreed Trainer Commission Structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Group Exercise / Group Class Delivery: Deliver approximately 12 group exercise classes per week. Ensure classes are engaging, motivating, and delivered safely. Maintain positive member feedback and class ratings. Target and support average class occupancy of 80%+.
- Assessments, Onboarding & Member Engagement: Conduct fitness assessments, InBody scans, inductions and results reviews. Ensure assessments are followed by clear recommendations. Proactively engage members on the gym floor.
- Personal Training Sales, Utilisation & Commercial Contribution: Actively promote and sell Personal Training services to new and existing members. Convert assessments and gym-floor interactions into PT clients. Build and manage a sustainable PT client base aligned to targets. Maintain Personal Training utilisation of 80%+ of available PT hours. Support initiatives to increase PT penetration.
- Personal Training Delivery & Coaching Excellence: Design and deliver individualised training programmes aligned to client goals. Apply progressive programming, correct technique, and movement quality principles. Identify injury risks or limitations and integrate corrective strategies. Deliver all sessions safely, professionally, and in line with brand and SOP standards.
- PT Delivery, Utilisation & Operational Discipline: Deliver all scheduled PT sessions reliably. Maintain high PT conduction rates. Manage schedules to optimise utilisation. Log sessions, assessments, and progress accurately.
- Client Relationships, Retention & Referrals: Build long-term client relationships through care and consistency. Track client progress and adjust programmes to drive results. Encourage repeat purchases, retention, and referrals.
- Brand Standards, Professionalism & Collaboration: Uphold brand standards in presentation and behaviour. Role-model professionalism on the gym floor and in classes. Support team initiatives, workshops, events and campaigns. Engage in training and continuous development.
What Success Looks Like (KPIs)
- Delivery of approximately 12 group classes per week.
- Average group class occupancy of 80%+ with positive feedback.
- Assessment uptake and results review completion.
- PT Revenue, packages sold, sessions delivered, and PT utilisation.
- PT Utilisation of 80%+ and strong PT conduction rates.
- PT Penetration rate (% of active members purchasing PT).
- Client retention, satisfaction, and SOP compliance.
Experience & Qualifications
- Competitive combat sports experience (IBJJF-certified Black Belt for BJJ).
- CIMSPA / REPS recognised Level 3 Personal Training qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a MMA/BJJ/Striking Coach, with experience conducting group classes and 1:1 private sessions.
- Strong technical knowledge of training principles and basic nutrition.
- Confidence in sales conversations and value-based recommendations.
- GCC / Qatar experience preferred; Arabic language skills advantageous.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
