The Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) is seeking an Education & Events Officer to join the Education and Events team, providing administrative support to both the Conference Manager and the Education Manager.

Role Summary

The job holder will ensure that the functions operate efficiently and effectively, maintaining the good reputation of the SLCC and serving our members well. The role involves collaboration with other officers to provide support across the organisation.

Purpose of the Role

The overall purpose of the role is to support the Conference Manager and Education Manager in carrying out their functions, particularly:

  • Take responsibility for all administration related to our events schedule.
  • Identify new training topics ensuring that offerings are current and forward-looking.
  • Run our well-established webinar programme.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the topics and content of the webinar programme are relevant by working closely with our membership and using feedback tools.
  • Propose new sessions based on research and member needs.
  • Build good working relationships with trainers and support their engagement.
  • Schedule and promote CiLCA training delivered by recognised trainers.
  • Identify additions to the webinar programme from member feedback and surveys.
  • Deliver the SLCC webinar programme on MS Teams.
  • Be the sole point of contact for launching SLCC webinars.
  • Ensure webinars and resources are listed correctly on the CRM.
  • Prepare promotional briefs for webinars in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing Officer.
  • Monitor webinar bookings and manage under-booked events.
  • Produce and upload webinar resources for delegates.
  • Administer Welsh Government bursary applications.
  • Respond to delegate enquiries professionally.
  • Produce bi-monthly content for the Clerk Magazine promoting SLCC’s offerings.
  • Maintain an expressions of interest register for new course topics.
  • Provide monthly statistics on webinars delivered and attendance.
  • Administer CiLCA registrations through the CRM system.
  • Claim and distribute CiLCA certificates.
  • Maintain and promote the CiLCA qualified register.
  • Support the Education Manager with documentation for External Verification Visits.
  • Engage with members and students for feedback on educational offerings.
  • Seek means of improving working practices and suggest development work.
  • Assist the Education Manager with Community Governance study days.
  • Provide administration and support to the Conference Manager during live events.
  • Maintain SLCC’s excellent reputation for training events and exceed delegate satisfaction.
  • Undertake continuous professional development.
  • Answer telephone calls and enquiries during operating times.

This role involves regular travel; therefore, a full driving licence is required.

Experience

  • Experience of facilitating virtual and hybrid events.
  • Experience of event organisation and administration.
  • Proven track record in delivery of in-person events.
  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with delegates and team members.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills under pressure.
  • Experience of working within the Local Council Sector.
