Overview
As Senior FIX Connectivity Onboarding Specialist, you will certify and onboard external clients for electronic trading via FIX, collaborate with business units and IT to implement new FIX-related functionality, and provide production support. You will manage client onboardings end-to-end, write message enrichments to normalize FIX data, and interface with FIX networks and OMS providers. Your work accelerates reliable onboarding, reduces time-to-delivery, and supports scalable, compliant electronic trading across regions. You’ll operate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and drive process automation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Full lifecycle client FIX onboarding including client liaison, testing, and static data setup
- Develop enrichments or rules to normalize FIX messages for Bernstein platforms
- Collaborate with FIX networks and OMS providers to enhance client electronic trading offerings
- Provide first and second line production support for FIX platform issues
- Estimate, prioritize, and schedule work across clients with business teams
- Advise the business on client-specific functionality implementations
- Manage day-to-day workload of client onboardings and report progress
- Communicate onboarding requirements to IT, Operations, COO, and other areas
- Proactively escalate risks and issues related to client setup or onboarding
- Develop solutions for bespoke client requirements through strong problem-solving
- Keep documentation up to date for new products/workflows
- Identify opportunities for automation to reduce delivery time and costs, including scripting in Python
- Review processes and propose automation to streamline testing and certification
- Support multiple onboardings, projects, and production issues concurrently
- Build robust relationships with colleagues, clients, brokers, and venues
- Work autonomously or within project teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Key requirements
- FIX protocol Subject Matter Expert in a similar investment banking environment
- Extensive experience with trading platforms; experience in development and/or support of such platforms
- Practical experience with Raptor trading systems FIX engine or close alternatives (UL Bridge, Fidessa Portal)
- Knowledge of Python, Perl, and ability to write scripts to improve efficiency
- Unix/Linux environment experience
- Experience with SDLC and Agile Feature Team environments
- Knowledge of equities trading workflows (DMA, Algo, Care, PT, RFQ)
- Ability to manage multiple client onboardings, projects, and production issues simultaneously
- Troubleshooting production and connection issues from first principles
- Strong stakeholder relationship skills with internal teams, clients, brokers, and venues
- Autonomous working style or as part of a larger project team
