Client Coverage Responsibilities

  • Develop our profile and reputation among clients as a reliable market maker.
  • Develop long‑term relationships with clients based on trust and professionalism.
  • Build, foster and cultivate client relationships in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop the client franchise by interacting strongly with sales and engineering teams; work in partnership with sales to communicate market flows, trade ideas and relevant trading information to support revenue generation.
  • Provide reliable backup and support for other traders within the team.
  • Maintain and develop strong interactions with internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, GLFI, Syndicate, research, compliance, middle/back office, IT, engineering, risk, etc.) and customers.

Product Scope Responsibilities

  • Price and execute relevant product transactions on behalf of SG clients, ensuring adherence to procedural guidelines such as MiFID, risk controls and product governance.
  • Take orders and execute on behalf of clients in accordance with the SG Trading Handbook, Sales Handbook, risk and credit limits, SG compliance policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage the book and hedge risk appropriately.
  • Implement the team business plan to develop SG business as directed.
  • Support the development of IT tools and systems to enhance SG’s trading efficiency, including automation, pricing engines, analytical tools and new hedging solutions where applicable.

Knowledge Management Responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of financial markets, competitors and clients to develop independent trading positions.
  • Keep intelligence on market initiatives and products in the trading environment up to date.

Risk Management Responsibilities

  • Improve SG market share and reputation through professionalism, discipline and risk diligence (compliance, market, credit, legal, reputation).
  • Use SG trading tools to manage and monitor the profit and loss of SG’s account, ensuring adherence to relevant trading limits and risk management policies.
  • Ensure full adherence to SG Sales and Trading responsibilities, including the Sales and Trading Handbook and regular training in accordance with regulatory requirements; ensure compliance with all trading recording procedures and that counterparty trades remain within operating credit limits.

Conduct Responsibilities

  • Adhere to internal policies related to the business or other areas for which you have responsibility and ensure compliance with operational and conduct‑risk requirements (data leakage, security policies, regulatory requirements).
  • Apply individual and department conduct rules consistent with FCA and PRA Code of Conduct standards.
  • Manage, control, prepare and, if necessary, elevate risk within the scope of your position in line with existing policies.
  • Remain fully aware of, understand and comply with all regulatory requirements from all applicable bodies, trading venues and statutory authorities.
  • Assist in the self‑identification of conduct‑related issues and ensure escalation to the appropriate stakeholder or function, whether internal or external.
  • Follow business line mandates relevant to the role as directed by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Some market knowledge and experience in investment banking/financial services industry.
  • Sound numerical and literacy skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player, proactively shares information and collaborates with others.
  • Highly motivated, proactive and entrepreneurial.
  • Reliable professional conduct.
  • Ability to work autonomously and follow through on responsibilities to completion.
  • Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for numbers with excellent attention to detail.
  • Competence in the SG Leadership Model for individual contributors.
  • Capability to develop relationships based on trust and professionalism.
  • English is the business language for SG (other language requirements as applicable).
