The Group Tax Function is responsible for UK taxes, and the tax issues faced by UK resident group entities. The team has a transversal role, covering all business lines present in the UK, and also supervises group entities based in Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey.

Summary of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Keep the UK VAT Group membership and other VAT registrations up to date;
  • Keep the Partial Exemption methodology updated and agree changes with HMRC;
  • Prepare and ensure the timely submission of accurate quarterly VAT returns;
  • Keep staff appraised of VAT issues and legislative changes, including the central tax team in Paris;
  • Control of operational VAT topics SGLB, SGIL and BALLP, including VAT accounting and invoicing;
  • Monitor VAT topics within the Ayvens group in the UK and Ireland;
  • Provide businesses with timely advice on VAT issues as they arise;
  • Monitor and minimise VAT risk for the UK platform, including assessments of new products;
  • Managing the group's relationship with HMRC on VAT topics;
  • Participate in the Indirect Tax Committees of UK Finance and AFME;
  • Work with Indirect Tax specialists in Paris on topics relevant for the group;
  • Ensuring that the Bank operates within the SG Tax Code of Conduct.
