Within the Investment Banking Division, the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team addresses borrowers' needs in terms of raising and managing capital in the debt capital markets. The client base for DCM includes financial institutions and corporate borrowers globally. DCM's activity covers issuance of bonds of various kinds, including hybrid capital & liability management, ESG and rating advisory, as well as transaction management advisory.
Summary of Key Purposes of the Role:
- Build and manage DCM client relationships with Financial Institutions target issuers in the Germany, Austria, Switzerland region, as well as supporting the DCM team for the Netherlands region.
- Identify and address clients' needs in terms of raising and managing capital in the debt capital markets.
- Represent DCM in internal dialogues with colleagues to provide best-in-class advisory to the client base.
- Work directly with the Senior Originators and originating teams covering the bank's German, Austrian, Swiss and Dutch fixed income client base.
- Provide support on the analytical side, presentations and marketing, while being extremely organised.
Responsibilities:
- Support the team's efforts in effectively covering clients to address their borrowing needs in debt capital markets.
- Regional focus includes Germany, Austria, Switzerland (primary focus) and Netherlands (secondary focus).
- Develop and maintain a track record of winning bond mandates in addressing clients' borrowing needs.
- Contribute to the profitable and visible development of the DCM/FIN business in the regions mentioned above.
- Support the effective and responsible execution of bond mandates.
- Engage with key stakeholders and experts to support the production of strategic and tailor-made content and solutions to clients.
- Support the development of the DCM client base in line with GLBA's and SG Group's strategy and priorities.
- Work with senior members of the team to assess new client and product opportunities.
- Build and work with internal network and stakeholders and assist with writing and developing marketing material.
Required Profile:
- Technical: Ability to gather an understanding of the bond markets, its dynamics and related instruments, including credit and rates derivatives.
- Capacity to generate consistent pitch material that is clear, structured, compelling, and comprehensive.
- Ability to understand risks and act responsibly in line with SG Group Values, Code of Conduct, and other applicable rules and regulations.
- Behavioural: Ability to contribute to building and maintaining trusted client relationships.
- Consistency and rigour in following up on clients' needs and acting upon team's priorities.
- Demonstrate discipline and team collaboration to develop business adapted to clients' and markets' needs.
- Commitment to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.
General:
- The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in Banking, Finance, Economics or a similar field.
- Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills essential.
- Ability to build Excel models autonomously.
- Good understanding of bond pricing models and methodology.
- Ability to work with Bloomberg and information feeds.
- Commercial and advisory skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
- Additional language skills in German and/or Dutch are advantageous.
