Purpose of the Role
As a Capital Planning expert, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of capital management policies and frameworks across SGIL, including assessment of capital adequacy, forecasting, planning, budgeting, and strategy.
- Consolidating, enhancing, and automating existing capital planning capabilities, including forecasting, impact assessments, and capital steering.
- Embedding capital metrics into annual business planning, budgeting, and financial performance activities.
- Producing accurate and timely reports and analyses covering forecast regulatory metrics against requirements and risk appetite.
- Supporting annual Recovery Plan and Resolution activities, such as impact assessments of recovery options and forecast recovery capacity.
Responsibilities
- Projecting capital adequacy based on financial and strategic planning budgets.
- Assessing capital adequacy under base case and stress scenarios.
- Formulating, approving, and reviewing stress scenarios and their impacts on capital adequacy with internal stakeholders.
- Identifying drivers of capital adequacy against risk appetite metrics.
- Performing impact analysis on capital adequacy related to planning actions.
- Producing internal presentations and detailed documentation supporting assumptions, judgments, and methodologies for forecasting models, working with Capital Modelling.
- Contributing to Capital Adequacy Statements and ICAAP exercises.
- Ensuring adherence to model governance, controls, and EUC standards.
- Supporting Recovery and Resolution Plan exercises, including impact assessments of recovery options and capacity forecasts.
Capital Budgeting
- Validating capital requirements under base case and stress scenarios against business plans.
- Calibrating internal monitoring metrics and thresholds aligned with risk appetite.
- Making recommendations when business plans exceed risk appetite metrics.
Profile Required
The ideal candidate should be a prudential regulation or risk professional, a subject matter expert with broad knowledge of capital management's technical and procedural aspects. They should be passionate about regulation and capable of operating at a high standard in a dynamic environment.
Skills and experience include:
- Experience in finance or risk departments
- Knowledge of prudential regulatory requirements under CRR in the UK
- Experience with capital planning and forecasting within ICAAP frameworks
- Experience with counterparty credit risk
- Knowledge of balance sheet management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and structured thinking skills, with minimal oversight required
- Strong numerical, analytical, and programming skills in VBA, R, and Python
