Summary of Key Purposes of the Role

Support senior traders in managing and growing the EM and Frontier Markets franchise through risk monitoring, trade support, interaction with Risk, Middle Office and Back Office teams, and process improvement initiatives.

Provide market-making and risk management support across a range of Frontier Market currencies, while acting as backup on selected EM currency franchises.

Provide liquidity and execution services to external clients, SG branches, and internal stakeholders.

Contribute to franchise development through market analysis, trade ideas, and close collaboration with Sales and Strategy.

Develop strong expertise in Frontier and Emerging Markets, maintaining high standards of attention to detail and risk management, while ensuring all activities are conducted in full compliance with internal policies, risk limits, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior traders in the day-to-day management and development of the EM and Frontier Markets franchise.
  • Monitor positions, risks and P&L, and assist with hedging and execution activities across Frontier Markets currencies.
  • Provide backup coverage for selected EM currency franchises as required.
  • Contribute to the improvement of trading processes, controls, spreadsheets, analytics and automation tools to enhance desk efficiency.
  • Liaise closely with Risk, Middle Office, Back Office, Compliance, IT and other support functions to ensure the smooth operation of the trading business.
  • Support the development and onboarding of junior team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance and promoting best practices across the desk, commensurate with experience and seniority.
  • Client & Commercial Responsibilities
  • Provide liquidity and execution services to clients, SG branches and internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Sales and Strategy teams to identify client opportunities, share market intelligence and support revenue generation.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining strong client relationships through professional and responsive market coverage.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of Frontier and Emerging Markets, market developments and client flows.
  • Manage risks in line with delegated authority and support the team in monitoring market, credit and operational risks.
