As Senior People and Development Business Partner, you’ll play a critical leadership role shaping our people strategy and driving high‑quality people and development delivery across Social Work England. You’ll lead and support our Business Partners team, our people and development operations team, and act as the key escalation point for complex people matters, deputising for the Head of People & Development when required.
What You’ll Do
- Leading and managing the Business Partner and People and Development team, ensuring high performance and quality delivery.
- Acting as the senior escalation point for complex and high‑risk people and development matters.
- Deputising for the Head of People & Development and representing the function at senior and sponsor‑level meetings.
- Shaping and overseeing the people plan to support organisational strategy and objectives.
- Providing confident advice, challenge and coaching to senior leaders and managers.
- Identifying, mitigating and escalating people and development risks, translating complexity into clear recommendations.
- Overseeing people and development budgets and leading strategic projects and improvement initiatives.
- Championing inclusion, equity and data‑led decision‑making across people and development activity.

For This Role, You’ll Also Need
- CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Extensive HR Business Partnering experience working with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing complex, competing priorities.
- Significant experience handling complex people and development cases and projects.
- Ability to influence, challenge and coach at senior and executive level.
- Strong analytical skills, using people data to identify risk and inform strategy.
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting clear advice at leadership level.
- Credibility, sound judgement and a demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.
