We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst who’s excited by meaningful challenge and motivated by real impact. This is a chance to join Social Work England on a permanent basis and play a leading role in a dynamic, multi‑skilled digital team that spans product, delivery, design and engineering. Working across our entire digital portfolio, you’ll help shape services that make a genuine difference to social workers and the people they support.
About The Role
- Advise on the approach to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities often across multiple complex projects or programmes of work through discovery, alpha and delivery phases.
- Lead on the development and continuous improvement of business analysis practice across the organisation, ensuring consistent delivery across the team.
- Coach and mentor team members to support their professional development.
- Lead workshops, interviews and focus groups to effectively understand business problems and user needs within large complex products or services.
- Lead the analysis and collection of information to formulate evidence‑based recommendations for service improvements, analysing the potential consequences of a change.
- Help teams to manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and adhere to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), priorities and scope.
- Using your extensive knowledge of Agile principles, work with business owners and users to elicit requirements and identify business impacts before translating these into deliverables which are easily understood by all concerned stakeholders.
- Analyse and manage the potential consequences of a change.
- Estimate what needs to be modified to accomplish that change, and scope changes within the details of the overall project design, identifying potential stakeholders.
- Define and implement metrics to measure and evaluate outcomes of implemented improvements.
- Engage and manage relationships with colleagues to ensure business systems, workflows and processes contribute to business strategies.
- Produce project documents, advice, briefing and other materials to support this work.
Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- The ability to build strong relationships in order to understand, empathise, negotiate and influence individuals and groups.
- The ability to effectively communicate complex information to a range of stakeholders with varying levels of understanding.
- The ability to investigate, analyse, visualise, articulate and solve complex problems and make disciplined decisions based on available data.
- Extensive experience of software development using Agile methodologies.
- The ability to identify and pinpoint business opportunities to enable us to perform more effectively.
- The ability to understand complex technical requirements and to translate these into user stories and/or IT specifications.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance a range of activities including multiple projects and line‑management responsibilities.
- Also able to balance both immediate priorities and longer‑term goals.
- The ability to work flexibly as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and workloads.
- Strong experience of working with external suppliers to deliver software that exceeds user expectations and service demands.
- A demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity in service delivery.

- Salary: £49,358 per year rising to £51,768 per year after successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period.
