Social Work Choice UK Agency are recruiting for a local authority looking for a passionate care worker to provide as part of a team, 24-hour support to adults with secure learning disabilities and complex health care needs. The post involves providing support with all aspects of daily living.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Offer personal care to service users in a respectful, dignified, and non-judgmental manner.
  • Run shifts to ensure service users are supported to be engaged in meaningful and developmental activities.
  • Participate in sleeping-in duty, waking night duties, and work at evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Responsibility for the ongoing management of the service in the absence of supervisory staff.
  • Participate in the care and development of programmes, promoting the health, welfare and comfort.
  • Appreciate, understand and have knowledge of different cultural needs.
  • Undertake supervised key worker duties with the service users, family, and other workers as appropriate.
  • Perform administrative/clerical duties as required.
  • Take appropriate action to safeguard vulnerable adults in line with current legislation.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with Councils Health and Safety policy.
  • Use and assist others to use information technology systems to carry out duties.
  • Achieve service outcomes and outputs, and personal appraisal targets, as agreed with your line manager.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct of the General Social Care Council (HCPC).
  • Undertake relevant training and development.
  • Be committed to the Council’s core values of public service, quality and equality.
  • Carry out responsibilities and duties in accordance with all relevant legislation.
  • Undertake additional duties commensurate with the grade as directed by your line manager.

Qualification & Experience

  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of experience working directly with adults with learning disabilities.
