Social Tech Trust (STT) is a UK foundation supporting technology ventures addressing social and environmental challenges. The Trust shares elements of its finance and operational infrastructure with Social Tech Ventures (STV), an independent early-stage venture fund it has helped to establish. We operate as a lean, high-performing team, working with external providers (e.g. bookkeepers, accountants, fund administrators, and advisors) to ensure strong financial management, governance, and operational discipline.
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Finance and Operations Associate to run and take responsibility for day-to-day finance and operational processes across Social Tech Trust and Social Tech Ventures, working closely with the CEO and external providers. This is a practical, execution-focused role. You will be responsible for ensuring that finance and operations run reliably and accurately, while improving processes over time. The role works closely with the CEO to ensure finance and operations are well-managed, responsive, and aligned with organisational priorities. The role is suited to someone who is comfortable working independently, taking responsibility for outcomes, and operating in a lean environment.
Key responsibilities
- Financial operations
- Manage payments, expenses, payroll, and pensions
- Maintain accurate financial records across systems (e.g. Xero, fund platforms)
- Ensure transactions are recorded, reconciled, and traceable
- Maintain visibility over cash positions and financial activity
- Financial tracking and reporting
- Maintain clear tracking of financial activity across both organisations
- Support month-end processes and preparation for audit
- Ensure consistency across internal records and external outputs
- Assist with preparation of management accounts and reporting materials
- Coordination of providers
- Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for finance providers (bookkeepers, accountants, auditors, fund administrators)
- Review outputs and ensure accuracy and alignment
- Resolve issues and ensure follow-through
- Additional responsibilities (STV-related)
- Support fund-related financial flows (e.g. capital calls, distributions)
- Ensure alignment between fund systems and financial records
- Support investor-related financial reporting processes
- Coordinate with fund administrators and relevant providers
- Process ownership and improvement
- Run processes day-to-day and improve them over time
- Document workflows so they can be maintained and scaled
- Build simple, reliable operating routines

About you
Experience and skills
- Experience in finance or operations roles
- Strong working capability with spreadsheets (e.g. Excel or Google Sheets), including structuring, maintaining, and checking financial data
- Able to work confidently with financial data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems
- Comfortable working with accounting systems and operational tools (e.g. Xero or similar)
- Able to work independently and manage day-to-day processes
- Able to coordinate with external providers and follow through on outputs
Desirable:
- Exposure to investment or fund environments (e.g. VC, PE, financial services)
- Experience working in a lean or early-stage environment
- Experience in improving or building processes
