Social Personnel is recruiting on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council for an Experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Service.
About the Family Safeguarding Service
Hertfordshire’s Family Safeguarding model is built on relationship-based and strengths-focused practice, working intensively with families to reduce risk and keep children safely at home wherever possible.
The service brings together multi-disciplinary professionals, enabling social workers to work alongside partners to provide timely, coordinated interventions that create sustainable change for families.
This approach has led to improved outcomes for children, reduced care proceedings, and a supportive working environment where social workers feel valued, challenged, and well supported.
The Role
As an Experienced Children’s Social Worker within Family Safeguarding, you will manage a complex statutory caseload, working with children and families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection and care planning processes.
You will undertake assessments, develop and review care plans, complete direct work with children and families, and present cases at conferences and court. You will be supported by regular reflective supervision, strong management oversight, and a well-established practice model.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children subject to CIN and CP plans
- Undertake assessments, reviews and care planning
- Complete direct work with children and families to reduce risk
- Prepare high-quality reports for conferences and court
- Present cases at Child Protection Conferences and court hearings
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners
- Apply legislation, policy and guidance to inform sound decision-making
- Promote positive outcomes through relationship-based practice
About You
- Experience of care planning, assessments and reviews
- Confident in court work and report writing
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and thresholds
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
