Purpose of Role

Social Personnel is advertising a Social Worker role for Durham County Council. We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to undertake bespoke pieces of work within Children’s Services. The role focuses on delivering high-quality assessments that inform safeguarding and care planning for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete a range of specialist assessments including:
  • Pre-Birth Assessments
  • Parenting Assessments
  • Children and Family Assessments
  • Undertake additional assessments as identified by the manager.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based reports to support decision-making and care planning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and multi-agency professionals to ensure effective outcomes for children and families.
  • Manage allocated pieces of work within the South of County Durham, ensuring timely completion and adherence to council policies and statutory guidance.
  • Essential Skills & Experience

    • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
    • Proven experience in completing Pre-Birth, Parenting, and Children and Family assessments.
    • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and assessment frameworks.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

    Desirable

    • Experience of undertaking a wide range of bespoke assessments in children’s social care.
    • Knowledge of local services and support networks across County Durham.
