We’re supporting the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham in recruiting a dedicated Permanent Social Worker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in a borough committed to improving outcomes for children and families.
The Role
As a Social Worker, you will deliver high-quality assessments and interventions to children and families in need, working within statutory frameworks and local guidance. You’ll play a key part in ensuring safeguarding, promoting positive outcomes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake high-quality, analytical single assessments within statutory timescales.
- Assess and support children and families in line with relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Ensure the child’s voice is central to all assessments, plans, and interventions.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including Health, Education, Police and voluntary services.
- Manage cases involving children subject to child protection plans and those looked after by the Local Authority.
- Provide effective support to families to address unmet needs and prevent statutory safeguarding intervention.
- Carry out statutory duties in accordance with Care Planning Regulations 2010 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
- Maintain accurate case records using ICT/ICS systems and contribute to service planning and quality assurance.
- Engage in ongoing professional development in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework and SWE registration.
- Keep line managers updated regarding risks, concerns or issues arising from caseloads.
- Uphold excellent standards in information handling and record management.
Requirements
- Social Work Qualification (SWE-registered).
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Previous experience in Children’s Social Care.
