SIMA is a high-growth next-generation impact investment manager, known for creating innovative impact investment funds with deep impact. We have to date raised over $400 million in the solar, microfinance and clean cooking sectors, with leading public and private sector impact investors, and currently are raising an additional $400 million fund. Our headquarters is in the US and we have 65 employees, primarily working at the grassroots in Asia and Africa. We are seeking a Head of Business Development-Europe to build and lead our presence in Europe, leveraging our successful track record and global capabilities. We are launching an EU business to develop and place emerging market corporate bonds and structured debt products, with sustainability and impact objectives, to institutional and high net worth customers. We envision that over time this role could be expanded to the Middle East and Asia as well.
This leadership role requires:
- Proven experience in bond and structured debt product sales within the European institutional market, in the commercial or impact investing space.
- A strong network of relationships in the impact and sustainable investment sectors.
The successful candidate will help design and execute a strategy to expand SIMA's footprint in Europe and, over time, potentially in the Middle East and Asia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Business Development-Europe will:
- Work as part of SIMA's senior management team to design, launch, implement, and manage international impact investment bonds, structured debt and products.
- Help to structure investment products in line with market demand to develop appealing and innovative new impact investment vehicles and funds.
- Lead in sales in the EU and develop key investor relationships to support the marketing of SIMA's bonds investment vehicles.
- Work externally with and co-coordinate with investors, market participants, operating companies and other stakeholders.
- Work internally with Marketing, Investment, Risk, Finance, Legal, Technology and other teams.
- Optimize marketing, fundraising and investment management workflows, and environmental, social and gender responsive operations in coordination with other SIMA managers.
- Periodically provide advisory and consultancy services.
The Head of Business Development will be required to travel for due diligence, portfolio management, and conferences, and related events.
WHO YOU ARE
- Qualified MBA or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in finance, investment management, or financial services.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Deep expertise in sales/fundraising in Europe with a broad range of relationships.
- Proven track record preferred in sales/fundraising with institutional investors in the EU market, commercial or impact sector, in impact and sustainable investments.
- Experience in presenting investment proposals and shaping investments to meet investor needs and requirements is a plus.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
