The predicted salary is between 12 - 13 ÂŁ per hour.

Location: Luton (Actual location hidden due to the confidentiality of the service)

Salary: ÂŁ12.60 + 12.07% annual leave accrual paid monthly

Shift Pattern: Flexible role to service needs.

Please note, due to the nature of the service, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, and Paragraph 1 of the Act.

About the Role

The Relief Bank - Housing and Resettlement Worker will be based within a women's accommodation based service which supports homeless families in Luton. The service has 7 units of accommodation which support the following groups:

  • Expectant mothers
  • Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10
  • Single women aiming to have guardianship of their children

You will provide person‑centred support to families to help end the cycle of homelessness and enable long‑term sustained living. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering basic interventions and guidance around resettlement and independent living.
  • Providing personal support around domestic violence, offending activity, mental health, substance use, parenting skills, and safety in the home.
  • Facilitating support sessions, projects and activities, signposting and general wellbeing support.
  • Supporting with custody arrangements, mediation, supervised contact and creating a safe space for families.
  • Potentially supporting in our other services, including a residential service for males, which may require lone working at times.

About the Service

Bridge House Luton delivers accommodation‑based housing related support to homeless families in Luton. The service comprises 7 units which support:

  • Expectant mothers
  • Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10
  • Single women aiming to have guardianship of their children

Support is provided in a flexible, individualised approach so families can progress in a way that suits both parent and child’s needs while in a safe and stable environment. Assistance ranges from basic interventions and guidance around resettlement and sustaining independent living to more intensive support in the following areas:

  • Domestic violence
  • Offending / ex‑offending
  • Mental health
  • Substance use
  • Parenting skills – including child protection, custody arrangements, mediation, supervised contact
  • Safety in the home / family wellbeing

About You

You will have:

  • Empathy and compassion towards residents and the challenges they face.
  • The ability to motivate and empower others to achieve their personal goals and overcome barriers.
  • Basic IT proficiency; use of online CRM systems and Microsoft programs daily.
  • Previous experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, ideally in mental health.
  • Experience creating co‑produced support plans, key working and care plans.
  • Understanding of housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs and awareness of marginalisation.

Key Criteria

What we are looking for:

  • IT proficiency and ability to learn new software programs; basic Microsoft experience required.
  • Experience working with people of complex backgrounds, including in the criminal justice field, mental health, and/or substance misuse, or a good understanding of the sector.
  • Understanding of housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others.

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Appropriate qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice, or professional equivalent.
  • Experience providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role.
