ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Night Recovery Worker to support nightly operations at our service in Croydon. This is a female only service, providing accommodation-based support to people referred by South London and Maudsley Trust (SLaM). We support to address the complex support needs of our residents and prepare them for independent living whilst also managing any risks.

As a Night Recovery Worker, you will provide support on the night shifts, providing various activities for engagement to support the creation of a psychologically informed environment, to help our residents feel empowered to achieve positive outcomes. You will support the day team with any additional support required, carry out regular welfare checks, and ensure the service is running smoothly throughout the night and be an available point of contact for the residents.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, bank holiday and holiday periods included. Rota will run from 20:00 – 08:30

What are we looking for?

  • Due to the nature of this service, the post holder will need to be female and this post is therefore exempt from the Equality Act 2010.
  • Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours or a good understanding of the sector
  • IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
  • Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a Support Worker for Residents and Participants (R&P), contributing to the development of support plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
  • Provide advice, guidance, information, and life skills training to R&Ps.
  • Carry out welfare checks, ensuring the night service runs smoothly.
  • Ensure R&Ps understand their rights and responsibilities and have access to the right tools and resources to support them back into the community.
  • Support R&Ps to take correct medication if needed.
  • Assist with health and safety and other site related maintenance and management.
  • Admin duties will vary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position.

What we would like, but not essential:

  • Appropriate professional qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice or professional equivalent
  • Experience of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
  • Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professionals
