About Social Chameleon

Social Chameleon is an independent, social-first agency founded in 2020. We’re a small but highly capable team delivering award-winning work for international clients across consumer tech, beauty, lifestyle and agriculture. As we continue to scale, we’re looking for Social Media Assistants on a zero-hours or freelance basis to support the day-to-day delivery of social content and campaigns. Each hire will be dedicated to a single client account (we are currently hiring for two active accounts).

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Social Media Assistant with strong copywriting skills to support the delivery of organic and paid social content across key platforms. Working closely with the Senior Social Strategist, as well as the Account Manager and Creative team, you’ll play a key role in bringing strategies to life – with a strong focus on writing high-performing social copy, developing content ideas, and shaping briefs for creative execution, alongside scheduling and community management. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to write for different platforms and audiences, can adapt tone of voice across brands, and has a strong instinct for what makes content engaging and shareable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on copywriting for social content, including captions, hooks and short-form scripts
  • Adapt tone of voice across different brands, audiences and platforms
  • Support the creation of clear, insight-led content briefs for designers and creators
  • Assist with content planning, scheduling and publishing
  • Contribute to content ideation, with a focus on strong creative angles and messaging
  • Ensure content is platform-native, on brand and aligned with strategic objectives
  • Stay on top of platform updates, trends and best practice

Community & Engagement

  • Manage comments, DMs and replies across client channels in a brand-appropriate tone of voice
  • Identify opportunities for engagement and reactive content
  • Flag any sensitive or high-priority interactions to the Senior Social Strategist

Performance & Optimisation

  • Support reporting on content and channel performance
  • Track key metrics such as reach, engagement, follower growth and content performance
  • Identify copy and messaging insights to inform future content
  • Assist in identifying optimisation opportunities
  • Help maintain reporting dashboards and performance trackers

Team & Agency Support

  • Work closely with the Senior Social Strategist, Account Manager and Creative team
  • Collaborate with creatives to ensure copy and visuals work cohesively
  • Support the delivery of campaigns alongside influencer, paid media and content teams
  • Assist with content audits, competitor reviews and research
  • Help ensure smooth workflows, timelines and approvals

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a social media, content or digital marketing role (agency or brand-side)
  • Strong copywriting skills, with the ability to write engaging, platform-native content
  • Confidence adapting tone of voice across multiple brands
  • Experience developing or contributing to content ideas and briefs
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn (formats, features and best practice)
  • A good creative eye and understanding of what performs on social
  • An analytical mindset and comfort working with performance data
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and time management
  • Proficiency in native platform tools and scheduling platforms (e.g. Meta, TikTok, Hootsuite, etc.)
